Travel Team
Each year, the UCSD competitive team attends around 4-5 conferences hosted by other universities, traveling both locally and abroad. New delegates can try out for our team for any upcoming conference we attend. Since we require reapplication for every conference, delegates are not required to travel to every competition during the year, allowing for flexibility in participation.
Those wishing to join the travel team should sign up for our mailing list and/or discord, and look out for announcements regarding upcoming conferences.
Requirements to Travel
Must be a currently enrolled UCSD student for the quarter of the intended conference
Apply and successfully be admitted onto the team following an interview and tryout.
Attend all meetings and trainings leading up to conference weekend, barring any extenuating circumstances.
Agree to official team expectations and regulations, including a requirement to help staff our home conferences.

The simple answer is yes, but only if you are willing to put in the work to be successful! We specifically allocate places on our team for new delegates at some conferences, with the intention of building experience on our team. By showing up to trainings and demonstrating valid effort, you can build the necessary skills to travel with us.

It depends on the conference! More local conferences confer less fees on delegates while conferences abroad can be more costly. The team covers all delegation fees and lodging expenses; however, transportation and meal fees often fall on individual delegates. We do have financial aid programs available as well.
